Welcome to ForWEB, an innovative research and education initiative that took root at KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana in 2020 as a legacy of the GCRF African SWIFT project. Through express permission sought from the leadership of the Vice Chancellor (Prof. Rita Dickson) and the Provost of the College of Science-KNUST (Prof. Leonard K. Amekudzi; advisor/mentor to ForWEB), ForWEB began with just five passionate undergraduate students eager to tackle the challenges of climate change head-on.
Our mission is two-pronged. Firstly, we're on a mission to revolutionize daily weather forecasting for more impactful early warnings. We understand the pivotal role accurate weather predictions play in disaster preparedness and response. Secondly, we aim to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange through outreach programs, connecting academia, government agencies, industries, and local communities. Through hands-on workshops, practical exercises, and mentorship, our program enhances technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of climate change challenges.
At the heart of ForWEB is a commitment to creating a vibrant platform for students to share knowledge, ideas, and experiences. Through intensive networking, collaboration, and cross-pollination of insights, we bring together diverse academic backgrounds to generate innovative solutions for urgent global climate issues.
Our dedication to nurturing the next generation of climate scientists is evident through partnerships with institutions like UENR. Initiatives such as student exchange programs and hackathons play a pivotal role in equipping students with the skills, knowledge, and passion needed to confront the complex and urgent challenges presented by climate change. Join us on this exciting journey as we pave the way for a sustainable future.
