The resurgence of the harmattan countrywide reminds us of the challenges it can bring. In a communique issues by ForWEB on 31st January 2024, the group explained that the resurgence was as a result of the intensification of the Azores pressure from Sahel Regions south-westwards and the associated movement of the Inter-Tropical Discontinuity(ITD).
This phenomenon has the potential of heightening respiratory diseases, reducing visibility , solar energy output and Temperature fluctuations. This will also leave both indoor and outdoor spaces dusty.
The general public is therefore advised to stay hydrated and exercise caution while driving. The use of face mask is also encourage in addition to keeping surfaces and room clean and free from dust.
